No, even with small ones. The Botanical Garden is a protected area not intended for pet walking. As experience has shown, visitors often enter the garden with their dogs in their arms, but, after a few minutes, the dog runs in the grass, sniffing around, trying things, and fulfilling its physiological needs. Consequently, dogs potentially threaten our plant collections, just as the botanical garden can be potentially harmful to dogs. There are many poisonous plants here that can harm your pet. Additionally, the Botanical Garden has other visitors, including young children who may have allergies to fur or be afraid of dogs. Therefore, we recommend leaving your pets at home when visiting the botanical garden for the safety of the plants, other people – and your pet!
The staffing levels at the garden are critically low, making it impossible to provide even full care for the collections. On working Saturdays, the entire team is engaged in ensuring the most comfortable conditions for visitors in the garden. Scheduled tours are conducted, the Exhibition Greenhouse and greenhouses are opened, special photo zones are created, and more. In other words, these days, employees cannot focus on their regular tasks and must make up for lost time during the following week. Therefore, the Botanical Garden is currently open for visits on weekdays and usually two Saturdays per month. If the situation improves and staffing is expanded, visiting times may also become more convenient in the future.
There are currently only two staff members in the Department of Tropical and Subtropical Plants, which includes the Exhibition Greenhouse. Therefore, you can only visit or take a tour of the greenhouse by appointment in advance by calling the following phone number: 095-382-21-30. On working Saturdays, the Exhibition Greenhouse is usually open to all interested visitors.
